Rick brings his expertise and outstanding empathy/listening skills to individual, couples, and group therapy situations. He has expanded his practice in couples and family work to include longer intensive sessions where he can help dislodge entrenched negative communications to create healthier patterns of communication and teach listening exercises to help families relate to each other in more respectful ways and deal with conflict more efficiently. In these cases, he conducts intensives (instead of the standard 45-minute appointments) in order to fix ruptures more expediently.

Other areas of specialization include:

  • psychodynamic psychotherapy

  • interpersonal therapy/systems theory

  • mind/body connections

  • cognitive behavioral therapy

  • clinical hypnotherapy

  • interpersonal group therapy

In addition, Rick provides clinical supervision to mental health clinicians, medical systems, and professionals in mental health settings and social service settings.
